What do you say about someone who has many accolades and photographed the likes of Hillary Clinton, Richard Tyler, Marla Maples, Alvin Ailey, Whitney Houston and many others? You say you’re extremely fortunate to have your pics taken by Dorothy! She’s a gem you don’t find too often. You will love her energy, her knowledge and her professionalism. Working with Dorothy Shi and her team was a truly pleasant experience. Her studio is her home and I was welcomed warmly and offered a coffee as soon as I arrived. She was attentive to details such as the positioning of my belt, wrinkles in clothes and technique for wearing my outfit more effectively in the shot. Dorothy started by getting an understanding of how and where I would use the photos and kept that in mind the entire time. She guided me through the positions of my body and head and created scenarios such as looking to and then away from an open window that led to great and genuine photos.

She acted well in advance to provide an education; with selection of clothes, colors and readiness when facing the camera. During the photo shoot when her message was not being registered, she was professionally firm and assertive to drive a superior result; which she did. I recently got some great pictures shooting with Dorothy Shi. I have been needing head shots for a long time and Dorothy made the process very quick, simple and comfortable. Beforehand she gave me great instructions about what to bring, and when I arrived, Dorothy was adept at quickly helping me decide what outfits to wear. While we were shooting, she gave out really specific instructions along with helpful information about how she was shooting. I think that made me feel relaxed and comfortable while shooting. We did three different set ups, Dorothy and her crew were efficient at keeping the session moving and the energy flowing. At the end we looked over the session and we were able to review them immediately and she sent me some photos as I left. After I had time to review the whole set and I made my final choices. they were touched up quickly and sent back the next day. The whole experience was very easy and I would recommend her to others.
