Are you having a hard time keeping visitors on your site? Or, perhaps you are having trouble encouraging visitors to purchase your product or services? If the answer to one or both of these questions is yes, check out the following list of simple web design tips in 2016 to help you improve bounce-back and conversion rates.
Make sure that your logo is spiffy
One of the most important parts of your brand and website is your business logo. Even though they tend to be tiny, logos are the first thing that visitors will look at when they get to your website. So, is essential that you spend an ample amount of money, effort, and time ensuring that it looks better than that of your competitors.
It’s also important to remember that, in terms of your logo, location is key. In other words, you must make sure that it is placed in a prominent location like the left corner of your site; as this is the first place that eyes will be drawn to.
You should also make sure that your logo is a high-resolution image that is placed in the same location on every single page of your site. Additionally, your logo should link back to your homepage as this will make navigation easier for your site visitors.
Your website should have both primary and secondary navigational choices. Generally, the primary navigation option should be displayed as a horizontal menu bar that lies along the top of your site, right underneath your logo. The second navigation option should be located underneath the first and is commonly known as the sidebar.
It is important to make sure that the navigation on your website is easy and simple for your visitors. In this way, it ensures that they are able to browse your site easily without getting annoyed, as this will cause them to leave your site and they may never come back. Also, the less important links should be placed at the bottom of the page and the important information and links at the top.
Remove all clutter from your website
When you are eager to share information with your site visitors, it becomes quite easy to overload your website with irrelevant content and images. But, if you want to keep your visitors and engaged, you have to make sure your pages don’t have any visual clutter.
To ensure that you keep the clutter to a minimum it is important to remember that less is more. Also, limit the length and the options on your headers and footers. Furthermore, your paragraphs should be short and sweet, as this will increase their chances of getting and holding the attention of your visitors.
Colors on your site should compliment each other
Dependent on your brand and the industry that you are in, the color palette that you choose for the design of your website may be crucial. For instance, it is important that your color palette matches your logo and brand so that visitors can easily recognize it.
Let’s say that you were looking for the popular football club, Manchester United. But, when you got to their website, the palette is green and yellow. Because their traditional colors are red and black, you would be highly confused and may even leave the site because it looks like a fake page. Just as surely, if you are the owner of a high-end wedding dress boutique, you’ll want a clean, elegant, and classy design, which is easily conveyed with neutral and/or pale colors.
